I have Windows XP and use Mozilla Firefox regularly. I have noticed all the browsers I have tried lately on several web pages, where there should be a photo (typically for an advertisement) or a banner, the image is just a solid red box. It is not a white box with a red x in it. The whole image is a solid red box. What could be causing this? Is there a fix? For example - on Yahoo main page, large ad on right side in completely red as is ads below the nes section in Markets and Marketplace. I have cleared cookies, cache etc etc. I have Java and Flash installed etc etc nothing I try seems to be working. Please help!
I have also searched google for a fix and found nothing that has worked.|||That is caused by an ad blocker. It could be an ad blocker integrated into your security suite for example.
Turn it off.
Are you using Verizon Security by any chance?|||I don't know to fix your problem, but why don't you download the add-on called Adblock Plus that blocks all ads, which would also remove your 'image with red X' problem completely. It's a really good plugin, download it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox鈥?/a>
Then once you have it downloaded, you should get subcribe to some lists (the list basically contains the websites that advertisers use to host their banners on). Subcribe to easylist and you should be done here: http://easylist.adblockplus.org/
