Was it right for the Mexicans to change the words to the "Star Spangled Banner'?

"The Star Spangled Banner" words should stay in english. It say's Gave strips and bright stars.(red, white, and blue).|||imitation is he highest form of flattery.|||Mexicans didn't change the words. The US Government did about 80 years ago. This isn't news kids. Get with it.........

|||No. They should stay in Mexico and mow their own grass.|||Absolutely NOT!!!|||I have no problem with a translation as long as it is a lateral word for word translation. But once they start changing the meaning, things start going out of whack.|||No, I don't think that it's right for them to change the words. They'd get upset if you went to Mexico and changed the words to their national anthem.

in response to Desi no 1, just because they don't know English is no excuse. I don't know Spanish, but I don't expect Mexico to translate their national anthem for me!|||Their is no right for them to change the Star Spangled Banner. If they want to do something they should learn English and be proud to be in this Country.|||I don't know if English is the official language of the U.S., anyhow I'm sure the American indians weren't offended.|||Absolutely.... Hope they change your flag to.|||WRONG WRONG WRONG OH SO WRONG!!!|||Do your homework it wasn't the Mexicans who chenged the words it was an English man---He was the one who came up with the idea!! dooooooooooooo|||Definitely no!|||In a word - NO!!|||Any intelligent respectful person would think it's not right to change somebody else's National Anthem that's been sung for centuries. Only stupid idiots with no class would do such a thing.|||Well yeah i guess thats true, but there are possibly thousands and thousands of mexican americans in this country, and if they want to be american citizens, i believe that is truly their option. the choice of converting the words to mexican/spanish should not affect the americans. Also, what about all those spanish or hispanic people who do not understand english? shouldnt they be able to understand the anthem of their country????|||First of all mexicans are proud of their own national anthem, second mexicans did not write the anthem in spanish it was an american, a white american and those people who sang were puerto ricans and they are us citizen so they do have the right to sing it in spanish because they are naturalized us citizen.|||What did they change it to? Jose can you see...? Ha! HA!|||I'm think that there is nothing wrong with that, people translate songs all the time, and its no big deal. "the star spangle banner" was originally an Irish mans drinking song anyways, i just don't know why Americans are so upset about it. People have been speaking Spanish in the U.S way before this song became to be part of American culture. Its obvious that the people who are so upset about this just really need to relax and get a life because the Hispanic community is here to stay, get used to it.|||A British man translated it, NOT Mexicans or any other Latinos!!!|||if they want to sing our national anthem thats just peachy. I dont think we should play a spanish version of the song before a baseball game or anything, but as long as people are trying to demonstrate their patriotism thats fine.

Id rather them do something to show that they want to embrace america, instead of protesting the streets carrying their other countries flag.|||To change our anthem, yes.

They can have their own little ditty, but they better not start saying that they (Mexicans) have American rights.

Their translation stinks anyway.|||It was not the right thing to do. Everyone's national anthem should be sang in the official language of the country and for the US it is English. Some lady was on TV justifying it by saying they need to understand the words to let people know they respect it. But I think that is just talk used to justify something they know was out of line. How would they feel if US citizens went to Mexico and changed the words in the anthem to English?|||No foreigner, legal or illegal has the right to change the title or words of The National Anthem of any other country. When one comes to this country the only right they have is to obey the laws of the host country. If they don't, they are criminals and should be deported and not allowed to come back. They don't have the right to DEMAND anything or to threaten to change anything in another country, which is what they are doing. Try that in Mexico! There would be tanks in the street. They have very strict immigration laws which are strictly enforced. You would be jailed, shot or just disappear. Think I'm kidding?|||You are correct. It's just part of the Hispanic invasion into the U.S.|||I don't think they are the ones who changed it, although they played it on Spanish speaking stations. I believe it was changed by a British guy named Kidron, who thought it would be a giggle to see what happened.

I think HIS visa should be looked at carefully!|||I believe it was wrong but get ur facts straight a mexican didnt right it a British *** hole wrote it to make money, and he then gave it to different artist to sing|||Love the new version NOT.|||No. It was arrogant and stupid of them to do such a thing. The things that they are doing, and obviously on purpose, make me think that they are trying to start trouble. They are getting in over their heads if that's their intent.|||Not much of what the Mexicans are doing lately is right. The fact is, the Star Spangled Banner is our anthem and it isn't the Mexicans to change. These people have tried a number of , in your face, tactics to piss off the American population and it's beginning to work. I for one, will not hire another Mexican. I have already stopped patronizing Mexican owned businesses and I have cancelled my landscaping service.|||first off no ! it wasnt right . and i am lmao they jumped on that band wagaon and it blew up their faces and now their all pointing at the brit thats some funny stuff|||Actually it was a person in England that created it..those instigators!|||NO!!!!If they wanna live in the U.S.A you need to speak our language which means sing the national anthem in our language
